STEM

STEM stands for Science, technology, engineering and mathematics. STEM empowers individuals with the skills to succeed and adapt to this increasingly complex, changing technological world. STEM leads to innovation necessary to sustain our economy and make the world climate-neutral for a greener future. STEM is important because it permeates every part of our lives. Science is everywhere in the world around us and impacts people and every living thing on earth.

COIL

COIL stands for Collaborative Online International Learning. COIL refers to virtual mobility experiences that are embedded into the curriculum and provide students with an opportunity to interact with peers and teachers at international schools to develop intercultural competencies and digital skills while working together on subject-specific learning tasks or activities.

The STEM COIL project aims to incorporate STEM COIL practices into the Nordplus countries and interlink different educational levels such as elementary, high, vocational, tertiary and adult educational institutions. The project will develop a handbook on STEM COIL for teachers and teacher trainers from different educational levels. It will further support teachers with online teaching materials to improve their STEM COIL skills and experiences for learners from varying backgrounds.
